Queen Victoria

Hey all, i've been working on some exciting shoots lately, my favourite being this one, set near Deansgate, Manchester, with the multi talented Victoria Thomas. Alternative model/ makeup artist/ dental nurse! the look for the shoot was vintage wave and makeup, which Victoria with the help of a hairdresser friend managed to create beautifully!
Having not met Victoria until the shoot, i was overwhelmed by how fun, friendly and energetic she was, and we really had such a laugh together. definitely one of my most enjoyable shoots to date!
and i love the images that were produced, vintage glam contrasting with an industrial background.
I'm not usually a fan of coloured hair on models as i feel its very hard to pull of, but Victoria knocks it out of the park!
We're already organising our next editorial shoot in Chester in a couple weeks and i cannot wait!
you can follow both Victoria's modelling and makeup artist page on Facebook!

Website launch!!!

Oh my, I've been so overwhelmed with how busy I've been since moving house 4 months ago, id almost forgotten about writing, sorry to you all!
So where to start? well I've finally done it! yes . . . i launched the Blue Flamingo website 2 months ago! having designed and built the majority of it myself, it really is the fruit of my labour, and still a working progress. as i don't have any web design experience or skills or know anyone that has, its been at times, a very traumatic experience.
Keeping to our purple and blue colour scheme, i think its slowly getting there! focusing on just handmade Hair Accessories and jewellery, its become a great way to showcase our collections and to sell internationally! take a look around HERE
So what do you think? i really would love to hear any thoughts on the site!

Welcome to adulthood

Over the past few weeks, I've been ridiculously busy. From collaborations with other photographers and models, vintage fairs, setting up a photography business and doing my first family shoot, to launching my fashion website. As well as working a full time job, apparently becoming a housewife and still trying to keep some sort of social life, i am well and truly exhausted! And the list of things to do just keeps getting longer.
Ive never been good with organising things in my life, and now that i am living on my own and old enough to class myself as an adult, i seems to be harder than ever, and stressing me out beyond belief! even my old silly tricks like shopping and giving myself weird makeovers don't seem to work any more.
Is this what real life is like? because if so id rather go live in a cave. I don't handle stress well, as my mum puts it im a 'stresshead'.
But at least business-wise things are going well, and you can expect some great new posts on the blog, ( i have a huge list of to-do posts) even if it is to the expense of my mental health!
so for now you can check out my new website
For the next couple of days it will be blueflamingo.bigcartel.com, and will shortly move to its own website address blue-flamingno.co.uk
I've sent alot of time building this site from scratch myself, theres still some little niggling issues that i need to sort but for now its finished, and for the first week FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING!
. . . enjoy!

Hell's Kitchen?

Hey all, so i've recently moved out of my parents home and into a lovely new apartment with my boyfriend, and being the first time I've lived away from my parents (other than camp). Im discovering that despite by best efforts, I'm actually not terrible at cooking, and really enjoying being creative with my recipe's.
I cooked the other night, pork belly with an array of veg, I always worry theres not going to be enough substance to the meal and make to many items. This time i unnecessarily made sweetcorn, which i don't even think either of us ate.
But roasted pork belly brushed with reggae reggae barbecue sauce, red onions, red peppers, bean sprouts, and mushrooms, layered on top of steamed rice. And it was really tasty, yet another surprise to myself.
Do you have creative recipe ideas? id love to see them and even try out myself, and I'm sure the boyfriend will be a willing judge!

Festival Beach Looks

Ive been crazy busy of late, working on Blue Flamingo's latest collection, and of course moving house! of which I'm extremely excited about and will post all about it in a few days, but for now all about my latest photoshoot.
On location at Heswall beach with Rose Baxter MUA, from our previous shoot, and a new model, Chloe O'Gorman, whom the day before had received 4 yes's from the judges on xfactor!
The day was hot yet cloudy and there were many passers by on the beach, but like true professionals (pah!) we got on, and had a lot of fun! the beach was marshy and had dozens of old boats which made a perfect backdrop, but resulted in me getting knee deep stuck in sinking sand!
Chloe looked stunning in everything and really made everything look so wearable, I'm in love with all the end imagery, there beautiful even if i do say so myself ;) Check the collection out on ASOS Marketplace
Look out for chloe on this years xfactor and i wish her all the luck in the world

Flowers, flowers everywhere!

Over the past few weeks i've been working on our summer collection for Blue Flamingo. Inspired obviously by the coming summer, and the great weather we've been having, focusing on mixed flowers and butterflies, using reds, pinks, purples, and creams are my main colour pallet with a couple custom orders for blues, they create a great summer look dressed up or down. I think they've turned out great,  So much so i want to keep them all for myself!
I finally got round to snapping them on our latest shoot on saturday (more on that later), with our new young model Amber Gunther.
So what do you think, will you be rocking this summers biggest trend?

Nail Art Crazy!

Now we all know just how big nail art is at the moment, we can't go a day without seeing one of our friends posting a picture of their luscious tips on Instagram. It is everywhere, and I'm soooo envious of anyone who has time and actual nails to go crazy with it, due to a bad nibbling habit my fingernails are nothing more than little stubs, and a crazy schedule stopping me from wearing nail polish for longer than 12hours.
And now with the summer on the horizon, the designs are getting floral, fruity and festival ready. So while all you lovely ladies get busy experimenting i can only dream!
Check out my favourite inspiration looks . . .

Icy Photo-shoots

A few months back now we did a lovely collaborative shoot with photographer, Chloe Ann Charnock. after having the shoot postponed due to the crazy snow in March we finally got on location, at Sefton park, Liverpool.
Needless to say with the british weather the way it is, it was freeeeeezing and our two (new to modelling) models did extremely well, i think i was the one complaining the most! Our MUA Rhiannon was also on hand, and did a brilliant job on the makeup and assisting.
we finally got the photos back a week or so ago and there are a couple of really stunning images amongst them, although unfortunately i had sold most of the clothing in the wait for the images. so what do you think of them? we loved one of the models (holly) looks so much. she's becoming quite a regular on our shoots!

You can still shop some of the available pieces HERE.

Fresh Starts

Why hello there! If your following me over from the old Blue Flamingo blog, thanks for coming back! if not . . then nice to meet you!
So a little about myself and goals . . . I'm Yasmin, 22, from Liverpool, England (yes, where the Beatles are from). I'm a jewellery designer and owner of Blue Flamingo Vintage, currently showcasing on ASOS Marketplace & Fashionfinds.co.uk
I have a huge passion for art & design, fashion, makeup, travel and the United States.
My reason for restarting the blog is over the past 6 months, I've been pretty lacked in posts, due to a busy schedule and things had gotten a little messy on there.
So with summer coming, and fresh from my jollies, a new Macbook Pro at my fingertips and a cup of earl grey at the ready, what better time to commit myself once again to my blog and all of you lovely readers.
And my goals? . . . post at least once a week on a range of different topics from Blue Flamingo (my vintage store), to latest trends, design pieces, my travels, bargains ive picked up, and if your really lucky, i may even do a 'what i wore' (eeeek i hate pictures!). Not to ramble on about needless things, and not to go all squishy on you guys about my boyfriend (now named current boyfriend). So please follow me and i promise i'll try my hardest not to disappoint.

Here's to a promising future
